a furniture making process that involves a woodworker, skilled upholsterer, and an exterior upholsterer all of whom are highly skilled and masterful in the craft of furniture making

Box Top
a section of a mattress that sits on top of a thicker section and resembles a thick duvet, a topper, or a slim mattress

Butterfly Leaf
an expandable feature on kitchen and dining room tables that folds and stacks to slide under the tabletop for storage

Cancel
to decide not to conduct or perform something planned or expected usually without expectation of conducting or performing it at a later time

Cedar-Lined
drawers where cedar blocks and balls are placed to maintain freshness and keep insects at bay

Cup Holders
devices for holding a plastic cup or other drinking container

Drop Leaf
a hinged leaf on the side or end of a table that can be folded down

Eco-Friendly
products – from production to packaging of goods – that are not environmentally harmful

Eight-Way Hand-Tied
hand-placed coil spring construction where laborers tie springs eight ways – from side to side, front to back and diagonally

Euro Top
a type of pillow top mattress with padding underneath the top cover of the mattress and is flush with the mattress edges

Hand-Carved
furniture where the application of handwork to wood was prepared in some measure by a machine

Hand-Finished
process of applying coats of finish to enhance and preserve the beauty and life of wood furniture

Hand-Knotted
one-of-a-kind rug knotted by hand on a special loom and requires special skill

Hand-Loomed
rug that is traditionally handwoven on a vertical loom with a mounted wrap

Hand-Tufted
rug made partially by hand and partially by a mechanized tool – Hand-tufted rugs are made by punching strands of wool into a canvas that’s stretched on a frame with a hand-operated tool

L

Ladder-Back
chair back resembling the rungs on a ladder. The ladder-back chair is known for its horizontal slats across the back

Lay-Flat
a recliner that allows for a nearly full horizontal position conducive to napping

Lift-Top
the motor controlling the bottom portion of a recliner allowing the chair to lift up and down, while controlling the footrest

Live-Edge
what you see when the natural edge of at least one side of a piece of wood is preserved – this feature is intended to showcase the natural beauty of the tree

Luxe Top
a removable outer mattress cover with two different sides – one side is quilted brushed poly-cotton for cooler weather while the other side is made from breathable mesh for warmer weather

made by machinery – distinguished from handmade

Moisture Wicking
the quick moving (wicking) of sweat to a fabric’s outer surface and quick drying to avoid saturation

Nailhead Trim
a decorative embellishment on a sofa or chairs that accentuates the furniture’s style and lines

Not-at-Home Delivery
product attempted to be delivered with no person, 18-years or older, available to recieve the delivery

On-the-Road Cancellation
product that is prepared for delivery, but cancelled before the delivery can be completed

welcoming to and suitable for pets

Pillow Top
surface layer of soft material stitched and packed into the mattress

Pushback
the force a mattress exerts on you, particularly your back, while you’re lying on it

Self-Storing Leaf
a table designed with storage space underneath the center of the table

Slat-Back
traditional style of chair back that features a rectilinear form and vertical slats

Stain-Resistant
material’s ability to prevent liquids from being absorbed and fine particles from adhering to fabrics

Sustainable
products that are not environmentally harmful

Tight Top
an indication of a firm mattress, one that does not have special padding on the top of the mattress

Top Grain
leather from the top or outermost, premium layer of cowhide and is the most natural and least processed leather

Water Resistant
possessing the ability to resist the penetration of water to some degree but not entirely

Whitewashed
a semi-opaque finish applied to an existing finish or bare wood with the intention of allowing the base coat or wood grain to be seen

Wire Brushed
a wood finishing technique where the wood planks are scraped with a hard-bristled wire brush to create a distressed surface
